Rescue Patrols

For more than 30 years, Papá Jaime has been taking to the streets of Bogotá and other Colombian cities in search of children living in darkness who need a light. Inspired by him, a few years ago the Children of the Andes Foundation began to undertake such outing on a weekly basis, sometimes with Papá Jaime and others with his team, making the patrols one of their central programmes.

The objective of this campaign is to go into the streets of Bogota and meet children, adolescents and families, to create a link with them and, as well as giving them a smile, a helping hand and something to eat, to understand their problems and help them to become conscious and see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6.30 to 10pm, the Foundation takes qualified staff and volunteers in a minibus on a pre-decided route, to carry out different activities with the chose population. Sometime Jaime joins the patrol if he is in the city.
